Salon Gifts

What do you guys do for Christmas gifts for the receptionists at your salon? Every year for us, the stylists are expected to pitch in (its been raised to $40 each now this year) for gifts to the receptionists. Meanwhile.........the stylists get almost nothing. No gift, no gift cards, no bonus, the only thing we get is a party in the spring. Something like ax throwing with minimal food provided and leftover, expired hair products as "our gift". And the icing on the cake....if you cant make the party.....you simply get-nothing. Am I crazy or is this normal?
