Here is a 18k / 22” / 3mm / 18gr hollow Franco.

To preface, I am looking to ensure that the 750 hallmark applies to the whole thing chain, including the clasp. But most clasps are marked and i find it peculiar that it is not.

According to the vendor, this is supposedly of Dubai origin which there are no makers markings to really tell. (Small local jeweler).

Usually it seems to go the other way where the clasp is hallmarked and the rest of the chain is not.

In this case, both end caps are marked ‘750’ but I tried a couple non-destructive tests at home. The clasp draws a magnet slightly which I interpret as the internal spring mechanism being magnetic. It’s not a strong pull.

The rest of the chain does react to the magnet at all.

I also tried to do a home specific gravity test but got a value of 6, well below the ~15 you should get for 18k. I expected some variance because there is undoubtedly different ratios jewelers use for the remaining 25% metal content but that is a massive difference. I also consider my technique to be rather sloppy because I used a kitchen scale that rounds to the nearest whole gram and I used a cup of tap water. In this test I got a dry weight of 18g and a water displacement weight of 3g.

If there is something you notice in the photos that I didn’t point out, please feel free to comment.
