29M - Do girls wait for guy to message all the time?

Dating Advice

Whoever is reading this, thank you so much! Would love to get a female's perspective on this.

I met a girl who I used to like after 1 year, as she reached out to me. We hadn't spoken because we had a fight, which was both of our's mistake and she reached out to me recently, and we met a few times, where I came to know she was single, hence I didn't hold back and started flirting with her, and she also flirted back. I liked her after a while after know her. We met for more than 3 time in person, and had regular calls. Those meeting were great, almost like dates.(at least in my mind.)

Every meeting/ calls except the first time was initiated from me. I honestly didnt mind, because I wanted to see her, and I let her know about my intention - of seeing her.

But something happened 2 weeks ago, (I don't know what exactly went wrong) but her text are missing the same enthusiasm, the same energy, and also late replies. We were supposed to meet last week, but she cancelled as she had made plans of going out with this other guy for a party in his office. I do know she meet other guys regularly, but I think they are friends(even though deep down I know this is a major red flag).

In her defence, she was the one who planned our meeting last week.(which she cancelled later.)

I did try to pursue her a few times - but I think she is interested in other guys and sees me just as friend.

We spoke last week Sunday and since then there is no communication. Only a couple of stale texts. But I am sure, if I text here/ call her she might speak with me normally. But I think a person who is genuinely interested won't let a week of silence happen in the first place.

This time has been killing me from inside, because I don't wish to push also, I feel like getting some clarity. In my experience, the clarity seeking conversation doesnt go very well and makes the initiator of that conversation sound desperate.

I think I am overthinking this and making it complicated and just call her. But I not sure.

Hope to seek some clarity here. I have already started the detachment phase, and maintaining some distance so that this doesn't become more complex.
