Story time (but I’ll keep it as brief as I can) Saw this on marketplace for a killer deal about an hour away. Preemptively drove to the area out of eagerness before he even responded. Thankfully we met up shortly after and he was the nicest guy ever. He shared how his wife was an importer for the Vitra Design Museum and how they sold their house and just trying to move some of the stuff that isn’t coming to the new house. I asked if they had anything else they were willing to part with. He brought me into his workshop where he tinkers with modular synths and builds guitars (just the coolest). He dusted off some boxes and as im opening them they’re all George Nelson clocks! He told me how they all had minor defects and that the museum was going to throw them away so they kept some and have just been collecting dust since. I ended up walking away with FOURTEEN George Nelson clocks (most of which have actually started working since I brought them home) some need little minor repairs but I just couldn’t believe it. We shared stories about art and furniture and he even just gave me a Philippe Stark Toy Chair! It was honestly so fun hearing all his stories and seeing his personal collections and such. He used to make furniture as well as a hobby and gave me an end table he made in the 80s which I will certainly cherish forever. The shelf is my new favorite piece but the stories made it worth it even more. 🫂

By far one of my favorite marketplace finds
