What the Online Meltdown Really Showed

Critical Analysis & Discussion

First off, I want to start by saying that I was genuinely rooting for Prashant Kishor to win. But after the results came out, what really struck me was how classist some of our so-called "left" and progressive circles can be.

The reaction online was honestly horrid - the mockery, the sneering, and the borderline cyberbullying that followed the results said more about them than about the voters. It just showed how quickly people who preach inclusivity slip into elitism the moment the outcome doesn’t fit their narrative.

Somewhat related, this whole situation reminds me of a recent moment in the UK. One of their PM candidates, who constantly tries to present himself as wholesome and progressive, ended up making a pretty distasteful comment about care workers and immigrants.
