When should I start preparing for cfa?

I am currently in sem 1 of college and a senior of mine recommend me to start the preparation from 2nd sem itself since companies start to come for campus placements from the starting of 3rd year itself.. so if i clear cfa (considering minimum 1 year prep is required) i would have it in my cv and it is a really good pointer…but what i am wondering is if i start from the second sem i wouldn’t be able to explore internships ,certification courses that other children would be exploring..(consider that i am doing economics hons which is a very heavy course in itself so i am pretty sure i won’t be able to manage academics,cfa prep,internships and certificates all together)
