Some of you may remember but a few months ago I made a post about my family dogs having a litter and that I was going to be bringing one of those sweet little girls into my home. Well meet Daisy! She is 13 weeks old today and we are so thankful for that. At 10 weeks old she tested positive for parvo, and we believe it is from the coyotes as well live on an 800 acre nature preserve. We caught it VERY early, right when symptoms arose, and that made all the difference. She did not need hospitalization because of it, and instead we brought her in to the vet daily for subcutaneous fluids and a wellness check, and gave her anti-nausea meds and antibiotics, plus a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice. She is 3 weeks from the start of treatment and she is 150% herself again! All of her symptoms are gone, she is fully on kibble again (Hills Science Diet sensitive skin and stomach puppy) and she goes back to the vet next week to figure out a new schedule for her vaccines!

I just wanted to share this hopeful story as it is truly one of the most heartbreaking and terrifying things to go through, but that early detection can make a world of a difference. We had to take it all one day at a time, and it was uncertain and stressful and full of anxiety, but she made it through and kicked parvo’s butt!
