Maomao hairstyle

I finished rewatching the anime and now I was wondering how Maomao is securing her ribbon bun with the hairpin? The internet says to twist the hair but her original ribbon bun is folded and the hair pins act like securing the ribbon in order to not get loose an untie. Thank you ahead!!!💖
