Why didn’t Mike and Nancy seem to care abt Ted Wheller?

I mean, I know we all think Ted wheller is kinda useless, but do you expect me to believe that their kids don’t care about him either? Like what the hell was that? Nancy or Mike didn’t even visit their dad in the hospital? Didn’t mention Ted Wheller a single time?? I hate how everyone seems not to give a shit about their father. He gets instantly bodied and near killed and done, never seen, never mentioned, no tears. I thought he was dead until they said 'both their parents are injured'… I know it would take time on the script if they did Mike and Nancy reaction but C’mom a 3 years waiting and they didn’t even though about the fact that maybe ppl would expect a reaction from Mike and Nancy? It would take what? A 5 minutes scene?
