I wish

i wish i didn't exist,

wish i was a shadow,

that the light forgot to find,

or just a passing thought,

that slipped out of the mind

i wish i was a tiny drop of rain,

dissolving in the windowpane

or even a little particle

floating in the air,

almost invisible,

laid entirely bare

i wish i lived in a mirror,

choosing when i'm seen,

and when i want to disappear

i wish i had no name,

no face to remember

no past to claim

i wish i could be,

without leaving a mark

like a black spot

in a room already dark

i wish i wasn't so burdened

with my existence,

or let others be,

without carrying the guilt,

of simply being me

i wish that all these wishes

didn't tear me apart,

but for now, i'll gather them,

and hold them in my heart

and if the world forgets

the shape i tried to be,

let the gaps i leave behind

say more than memory,

proving presence isn’t measured

by who the world can see.
