Can i use any mouth guard for night clenching

I clench my jaw/teeth really bad at night and its making my masseter on the bad tmj side huge and the asymmetry is making me really unconfident. I want to prevent it getting worse but I’ve heard getting one that changes your bite can make the asymmetry worse and the customised ones at the dentist are really expensive so can i just use any one?
