New or Used Car

I’m looking to grab myself a new motor as a gift for myself. I do love cars but I’m aware they are liabilities and because of this, I have held off from purchasing something a step above my current car.

I currently drive a 118i 68 reg manual at 21. It’s a rwd gem, but I’m tired of manual and kinda shot myself in the foot with the purchase of a manual car as it’s a drag to daily.

I’m looking to purchase an A35 Merc. I would like advice on the following:

• Should I go new or used (new from showroom is 4.2% APR which is unheard of)
• Should I change my car at all
• Am I a fool for looking at an A35 Merc as a daily

My concern with the new A35’s is that they cost damn near £45-50k and they don’t even have a proper sound system. But my God they drive nicely.

The older models have the Burmester sound system but I’ve heard they are prone to problems?

I’m looking at a PCP agreement with £15k-£20k down.
