My mom not only thinks bullying is a good thing but also wants me to become a bully
Throwaway account because I posted some oersonal stuff on my main
In my (16f) school there is a girl that some of my close friends have been bullying for a while now. I did not took part in it but tbh i did not said smt against it either because I was a bit afraid. Anyway since I have a close relationship with my mom and can trust her with almost everything, I told her about this a few day ago. She listend but to my suprise in the end she asked me why I did not participate in the bullying. First I thougt she were joking but she was not. She also told me "Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if you took part in it" because according to her there will always be bullying in schools, it is not smt that will change soon and so it is better to be the bully then risking the victim.
I was a bit suprised but she told me a story about her teenage days where she and her friends bullied a boy in highschol for a few years. He ended up failing graduation and never really succeded in life unlike my mom and her friends from that time who all have pretty good careers etc. She said "I wouldn't have liked to be in his position. That's what I mean by saying it's better to be the bully then the victim. It will have no negative impact on your life but for instance you will gain self confidence which is crucial at your age"
Tbh I was a bit shocked after our conversation, I mean somehow I still thougt that she were joking but she was clearly not. But after some time, I tried to understand her persective a little more and started to think that she was maybe right in some point. I mean my friends seem to find a weird pleasure in bullying that girl and if I wanted to, it would be absolutely no problem to join it. But on the other hand I also feel bad for her. What should I do?
