Dynasty warriors 8 controller button

I’m so lost on which button you’re supposed to use for that animation thing where your character is pressing their weapon against another officer’s weapon and you have that bar where your blue line has to overpower the red one. Like no matter what I spam click I lose to the officer so what button is it? And are you supposed to hold it or spam it?
