Is there anyway out of this???

Me and my husband stayed in an apartment for six months. The apartments hvac system never worked, the sinks leaked, I’d woken up before to men in my apartment with NO warning, I could go on forever. So obviously we left. Yes we broke our lease. But they sent us a $5,300 bill after the fact that wasn’t previously mentioned. Two of the charges are for breaking the lease and one is the buyout fee, that’s fine, the problem is they’re trying to charge us $2,200 for a cleaning fee. We did absolutely NO damage to this place. And it wasn’t dirty when we left. I can’t pay $5000 to a place that treated me horribly and had terrible living conditions. Can I get out of this??????
