When do I start winning?

I have 1.2k hours in SMITE 1, and about 200 hours in LoL. I love mobas! But I just cannot get past this wall of being new --> being able to win fights. I'm still learning items as I explore builds, and am enjoying seeing which characters I like.

I just keep spending more time dead than alive every match. Every lane feels like I'm playing players who've played the game since day one, and the matches I do win I always have lowest damage and kp.

I've watched tutorials, played in the sandbox to learn kits, all 9 yards. When do I start winning?

Any advice is welcome, cause I really want to like this game
