Best bell boots for a mildly upright/ clubbed foot
Hi all, I’m leasing a horse that is notorious for pulling his shoes off fully or partially, sometimes resulting in a sprung shoe. I’ve been told he pulls them off more frequently in muddy/ wet weather (which we are currently experiencing).
He is a lesson horse, and none of the bell boots they have fit his club foot quite right. Does anyone have any bell boot suggestions for a mildly upright/ club foot?
Other details:
-He is shod every 7-weeks, but his shoeing frequency/ strategy isn’t something I have much control over
-His front right foot is clubbed and shod
-His front left foot not clubbed, and is shod with a pad
-When his front feet are freshly shod, they seem to match in height, but as they grow out, the discrepancy in their height becomes more evident
-His back feet are not clubbed. They have been barefoot for the past year, but have contracted heels and deep, narrow central sulci
-Our environment is constantly wet and muddy for 4-5 months of the year (and almost never freezes), so they need to be boots that don’t cause rubs, but also don’t trap too much moisture
-He is prone to thrush for obvious reasons, so I pick his feet regularly, apply durasole frequently, and he gets thrushbuster when he has acute infections
-He is a big boy (over 17.3), but not a draft, so he will need something that comes in a large (but not huge) size
Any and all advice is appreciated!
