Is my friend OUT if he analyzed a Wham! audio file without listening to it?

Quick question: a friend got tricked with an audio file containing Last Christmas. He says he didn’t listen to it — he just ran a script to analyze/transcribe the audio and saw the lyrics in the output.

He voluntarily opened the file and processed the original Wham! track, but claims that since he never “heard” it, he’s still in.

Does this count as a Whammageddon FAIL? Community verdict needed. 🎄💥
