Got rejected by a bassist

I recently confessed my burning love for a skinny, anemic, socially inept league player. He was watching some guys cover of some djent bands song and didnt even bother to look me in the face. How is this possible?? I know its taboo for a bass player to talk to girls but i play too so i thought it would cancel out or something.
