Landlord's Responsibility to Repair Appliances

Hi everyone!

My partner and I have lived in our rental unit in Hintonburg for 1.5 years. When we signed our lease agreement, it said that the landlord is not responsible for repairing the washer and dryer if they stop working. I'm seeing online that this might be illegal, as the unit came with the washer and dryer.

Our dryer just stopped working. We tried cleaning out the vent, but there is no heat coming from the appliance. We're unsure of the law surrounding this, and are wondering if it actually is our landlord's responsibility to repair it. We're waiting to approach him until we have an answer!
