What's underneath the fur on the mini nommi's?

absolutely crazy question, but I notice the miniature nommis feel like they have an actual figurine body underneath. I was considering customizing one and thought about potentially cutting off the fur, but I'm scared it will be ugly and I'll regret it(Plus i cant afford to get another one if i hate it lmao ) so I was curious if anyone else had cut open their mini nommis?
