Armor + Armor Mastery + Shield Vs Dex?

The label is Kingmaker but I'm asking for Wotr as well.

I'm trying to decide between two archetypes:

1. Mono Fighter with armor and shield

2. Aldori Defender + Swordlord

Either class would go in the frontline and is intended for both tanking and dealing damage.

Does the Armored Fighter posses any advantage over the Aldori? I know stacking AC is kinda "meta", but I don't know how different it is from armor and shield.
