Working in Vet Med gave me the ability to sit back and compare first

Just wanted to share my experience since shopping for a policy can become overwhelming.

Trupanion offers discounts for employees at my hospital. I had it for a year and realized how expensive it was. Literally over half the cost of anyone else, it seemed. They are also owned by Mars- which owns VCA, BluePearl…. Pricey vet care. Then they denied a larger claim for my coworker and I dropped them. Feedback from clients was also concerning with lots of claims denied on new accidents but expensive bills.

My 7y/o Maltese is healthy so I was going into this with nothing pre existing. I was also looking to pay annually and not monthly.

Lots of comparing quotes and client feedback led me to Lemonade. It was absolutely the least expensive in comparison; $375 for the year, $250 deductible and 80% reimbursement with $32k cap every year.

My claim for oral mass removals, UTIs and ultrasound was just approved and reimbursed in under 48 hours. Unfortunately, my little dude has a string of health concerns this month.

I highly recommend Lemonade. Especially if you can bundle it with renters. ASPCA had good feedback from clients also. But no option for annual pay when I checked.
