Work takes unpaid lunch from hours but we don’t get the breaks (pa)
trying to figure this out. Ever since I started this job and I’ve check my hours they take 30 mins out every day for an unpaid lunch but have only taken a lunch once in the first few days I’ve started. Decided to see how much it is and every paycheck (bi-weekly) they take 5 hours of time I’ve worked for this “unpaid lunch” that’s automatically added on, they use the workforce app for timesheets, and lose out on close to $100 a paycheck from this, they refuse to pay anyone over $20/ hr. Is this even legal? I know there’s practically no laws regarding breaks for workers over 18 but taking away time worked and saying it’s for a lunch that isn’t taken seems like it would go against some sort of labor law. And was wondering if there’s anything about how long of a notice is needed for the next days start time. I’m on call for snow but it was 2 days after the storm and after have a 14.5 hour day and an early wake up the next day with little sleep I had to stay up til 9pm on Wednesday to find out I had to be at work at 4am (3am wake up) on only a few hours of sleep each day. Any help appreciated
