Why are people compelled to drive so fast now?
I don't mean 5-10mph over the speed limit; I usually go a little above the speed limit or match the flow of freeway traffic when necessary.
I'm talking about people who throw caution to the wind, completely disregard speed limits and road conditions, speed through towns etc.
Like what is the point of that? Why do they feel compelled to absolutely rush through life?
I see this all the time on the highway by house; it's a two lane highway, it's very windy, with huge cliffs, train tracks, and a deep river off of some sections. It is not a safe or easy to drive road by any means but people don't seem to care at all. The speed limit is already 75mph but because the road is not patrolled a lot of people go way faster. I'll have people passing me/flipping me off when I'm going 70-80 around corners.
And the thing is these speeders die if they make one wrong move. I've only been in the area for a year, and I've seen people slide out, smash through the barrier and fall into the river. I've seen people end up on train tracks with oncoming trains; I've even seen a lifted truck in A POWER LINE. The amount of force it must have taken to launch a vehicle that heavy so far/high is crazy.
What is the point of risking your life like that just to save a few extra minutes? And it's a lot of people driving like that too. They just don't seem to think it's reckless.
