I’m IRATE about this renal support cookbook for seniors.
My 87 year old mother in law is now in stage 2 chronic kidney disease and has managed diabetes. She’s probably a hypochondriac but I’m not here to judge, just trying to help her eat healthy while aging in place. She’s reading this book “Renal Diet Cookbook for Seniors” and taking diligent notes, as if there’s going to be a test later.
I happened to look over and see one of the recipe pictures. The Basil Pineapple Salad HAS NO PINEAPPLE IN IT! It’s lettuce and yellow bell pepper!! And then when I started flipping through the rest of it I saw so many examples of total BS recipes! Photos showing ingredients not listed in the recipe. Total, outright lies.
I added a bunch of photos of recipes to an Imgur post (link in comments). This book made me so angry I had to post.
Can anyone recommend actual, tested, real meals for an 87-year old with kidney disease and diabetes with limited ability to cook extensive meals?
