My thought

Hi everybody. Today, while spending some time with my nephew and his little friends, something really struck me. Watching them grow up in this fast-moving world of technology made me realise how much things have changed—especially for the generation we now call Gen Alpha and Gen Beta.

It feels like somewhere along the way, we’ve stopped letting our children truly open their minds. And I’m not blaming anyone—maybe as parents or future parents, we all want our kids to be safe, to never face what we once faced, to never feel the pain we felt. But I’ve also seen how this turns into overprotection.

A child cries, and everything is placed in front of them instantly. No waiting, no thinking, no learning. If we never let our children feel small struggles, how will they ever understand effort, patience, or even basic survival instincts?

Sometimes I think about how our grandparents lived. They grew up farming, cultivating their own crops, raising cows and buffaloes—not as “pets” but as part of life and responsibility. Kids used to take cattle for grazing, help their parents in the fields, and learn through real experiences. They built relationships with neighbours and relatives because life naturally connected everyone.

But today, it feels different. We are drifting into a world where we don’t even know who our neighbours are. Not their names, not their families, not their struggles. Technology was meant to change the world, but it has also started changing the human inside the world.

Maybe some people call this “freedom.” Maybe some feel it’s modern living. But personally, I don’t know. I just feel something important is slipping away—connection, community, resilience, and the simple understanding of life.

I’d really like to hear your thoughts on this. What do you think?
