People who say things like “she’s still your mom” when you say you hate or don’t talk to a family member.

Fairly Annoyed

I get this a lot, my mother abused me my whole childhood, has stolen a PlayStation and money from me for Meth and has devoted her entire life to smoking meth after refusing to get help even when offered fully funded rehab. A lot of the time when I talk bad about my mom people will say shit like “well, she’s still your mom though so you gotta love her” or some shit like that and it’s fucking annoying. No, I’m a full grown adult and I don’t have to fucking love her.

Recently a coworker was asking me about my family and I don’t them that I have cut contact with my mom and that she keeps moving around from trap house to trap house and they were literally preaching to me about how that’s wrong because she’s still the one that brought me into this world and gave me life so I should love her and take care of her no matter what. Why ? I didn’t ask her to give birth to me and I know damn well I wasn’t planned because she had me at 16.

A similar thing happened at my grandfathers funeral. He said on his deathbed that he did not want my mom (his daughter) at his funeral so she wasn’t invited and half of the people there that asked about her were like “she’s still his daughter though, she should’ve been invited, that’s terrible that no one invited her” and shit like that. I don’t get it at all. I hate that people feel like we have to love someone just because they’re related to me. I don’t even care about my mom anymore. If she were to die today, I wouldn’t even feel an ounce of sadness. I have absolutely no good memories with her and I’m happy that she’s out of my life.

Why would I want someone in my life who’s constantly in and out of jail for robery and drug possession and beat me and neglected me my whole childhood ? What benefit would I gain from that ? Absolutely nothing. I feel like people who say shit like this have good relationships with their family and don’t understand what it’s like.
