I was set to preorder the Dialed Motion leg developer when it launched, so hearing it was pushed back by at least a year was a huge letdown. I’m still excited for what those guys are building, but I wasn’t interested in REP’s option, so I needed something to hold me over in the meantime. I grabbed a used Bulletproof Isolator off Marketplace and decided to make my own cam setup for it.

I took the Isolator short pad apart, measured the tube diameter (1.5 inch), and ordered a pulley and bushing that fit. I figured I’d need to cut a notch for the pulley key, but the fit was so tight from hammering the pulley on actually locked it in place. I drilled a hole and ran a small bolt through the rim to attach the cable. I tested it with the full weight stack and the pulley didn’t slip at all on the tube.

The strength curve isn’t perfect, but it’s constant and definitely an improvement over the plate-loaded arm.
