Christmas food shop up north

We’re thinking of driving up north to do our Christmas shop this year. A comparison of Tesco prices between Ireland and UK had me fuming. We’ve never done it before and looking for advice. Is it worth doing? What UK shops are worth going to? Where’s the best place to drive to? Etc
