Estate Sale Impulse buy: Electro-Voice E-V Two's that turned out not what they appeared to be...

I picked up a pair of what I thought were Electro-Voice E-V Two's in reasonably good cosmetic shape from the sides and front, but hacked in the back. They were priced at $200 and with a little back and forth, we agreed on $75 for the pair. They passed the gorilla test and I lugged them out to the car and filled up the back seats. All the way home, I felt 'apprehensive' about this. I impulse bought. There wasn't anything to plug them into to test them. Hopefully, the woofer surrounds were cloth and the horns were operable. I can rebuild the crossovers, but the more I thought about it, the more I wasn't really digging it.

When we got home, I checked the ohms / continuity with a multimeter and then plugged them in. Not bad, really. But they weren't horn tweeters...

I opened them up... and found SPEAKERLAB components! DT110 1" Dome Tweeter, W1208R woofer and the poly filled housing holds the midrange. Not sure on what model of midrange, but judging by the other drivers and the speakerlab crossovers, the midrange might be a MP608R and these appear to be Speakerlab S3 components in an E-V Cabinet!

For $75!

There are a couple poor solder connections to the drivers. I'll reflow those and measure out the caps and see what needs to be changed.
