Pepboys did a tire replacement for me, but also a long-standing issue I haven't taken care of because its a very expensive and labor intense thing is seemingly magically fixed. Dont wanna get someone in trouble if they did extra work for free, but I also kind of wonder HOW. Should I call n ask?

My car has had major steering issues for a long time because its never had the power steering fluid changed and its less a liquid than a sludge nowadays. I barely afford life and only got the car back recently from someone else after not having it for almost 2 years so I havent managed to save up for repairs yet. You can hear the pump struggle to push the sludge through the lines, though, and multiple mechanics have told me it needs a full flush (well over the milage where its needed) and new liquid. Might need a pump too after the abuse its been through.

At low speeds you cant make sharp turns whatsoever which does make some parking spaces impossible to use or very iffy. Also gotta take turns from a stop sign or red light real wide, sometimes into the other lane a bit. No amount of force will turn that wheel until the car is moving faster. Makes terrible noises as well.

I left it at pepboys for a new tire, and now the issue is ENTIRELY gone.

Not just better, GONE. The drive back to work (picked up on my lunch break) was the smoothest that car has driven in several years. No noises, no trouble turning, no shaking, no sludge forcing through the lines noises - idk wtf they did but its somehow fixed (or temporarily at least?).

.

Should I just... take a win?

Or call back and mention it to find out what/if they did anything and potentially get someone in trouble who may have been tryna do me a solid after seeing the cars condition?

Ive got bad anxiety though and im also anxious that they like did sometbing to make it turn easier for them but thats gonna be a big issue in a few days or something. Thats why im asking on Reddit. But I dont wanna get someone in trouble for helpin for free, either, yknow?
