iCloud Storage Alternative

I’m growing tired of all the various subscriptions and I’m seriously considering what other options might be out there for me to setup my own iCloud storage system where all family members can use not only to store their files but also photos, videos etc.

We are big Apple Photos users as we have gone through the lengthy process of naming everyone in all our pictures, organizing various albums etc.

Does Ubiquiti offer a solution that can be a realistic alternative? I know that have a NAS device but my understanding is that it’s simply for file storage, no real good interface or mobile apps to organize things like Photo Albums etc.

UGreen apparently has a NAS type system with apps and UI that can act almost like a replacement to iCloud.

My only concern with self storage is whether my family members will know how to maintain it should something happen to me in the future. I’m the tech guy in the house.

Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.
