Anyone know how Quarry+ works in Concatenation modpack?

I'm running the Concatenation modpack, and it contains a mod called "Quarry+" which adds a "Solid Fuel Quarry". The quest book says it's a block that will mine below itself and put anything it generates in an adjacent inventory. I have a chest next to it, I put coal in, and the fuel counts down from whatever was in there down to 1080 and then stops. It never produces any ores or anything at all.

I tried adding a lever in case maybe it needed redstone. Still nothing. Anyone know how you make it run? I am so sick of manually mining for resources T_T
