The Watchman and the border another theory

I noticed something in today’s EP22, and it changed how I see the Watchman:

When Noerde was pulled out of the Trashbeast, she looked toward the Watchman at the border and it really seemed like he pulled a piece of her anima/soul out of both her and her Jinki.

So what if…

The Watchman once had a soul, maybe even a godlike protector’s essence?

But during the creation of the Collection, his anima/soul and also his senses were forcibly extracted.

For example:

Sense of smell → Amos’ boots

Sense of touch → Rudo’s gloves

(…and possibly other senses tied to other parts of the collection)

If that’s true, then everyone who tries to cross the border dies because the Watchman’s soulless body drains their anima/soul, desperately searching for pieces of his own.

Why did Rudo survive?

Rudo possibly didn’t die because he was wearing the gloves. The Watchman’s body recognized Rudo as “its own” rather than an intruder, so he was protected.

That would also explain why nobody died today:

the flying Trashbeast was powered by Amos’ boots, meaning the Watchman sensed his own anima/soul and didn’t attack.

!Why did Noerde survive? This might be an exception, but maybe because she was "already dead inside". She hadn't the willpower to live anymore, so her soul was already dead. So the watchman took something instead?!<

But here’s the darker twist:

What if the Watchman Collection is truly cursed? What if that curse prevents the Watchman from reclaiming his own anima/soul? Because of that, his soulless body is trapped at the border (between “heaven” and “hell”).

What if Rudo’s parents were involved in creating the Collection?

The “curse” and that mysterious thing inside Rudo are possibly connected to a dark ritual performed long ago to create the Collection in the first place?

Rudo’s changed perception

His confrontation with the Watchman clearly left some kind of effect on him.

That’s probably why he could sense the Watchman inside the flying Trashbeast, while everyone else remained oblivious.

We still don’t know what’s going to happen to all the people affected by the Watchman’s influence.
