What is YOUR intro scene for the new Stargate?
Everyone is excited about what the new series will be like. But I'm sure a lot of us have our own ideas of how that first introduction scene and title sequence will be on episode 1.
What I imagine is this.
The theme song softly plays in, maybe with a slower tempo at the start. This immediately gives us a nostalgic rush.
As the visuals fade in with the music, it's an intro sequence similar to the original of a panning shot over a statue of Ra. In comes the silhouette of the Stargate. The camera pans along the constellation symbols. With the only light casting over the symbols is the subtle shimmering light of the gate not yet in view.
As the sequence progresses, the music tempo normalizes as it gets to the grander section with horns. It begins to expand the shot, the event horizon comes into frame and as the camera pans over, now only the shimmering pool is in view. You get the feeling of flying along the ripples of the pool and then it transitions to the shimmering ripples of a pond. As we soar along the water in a close up, the music transitions, birds and nature chirp into ear shot. And then the camera comes upon a fishing bobber and follows it.
The scene and music transitions similarly to the ending scene of Season 8 Ep 18 Threads. The rest of this scene carries a lighter tone similar to the score of this ending scene.
The camera follows the bobber, in the background we hear a disgruntled mutter about catching nothing and as we follow the bobber it comes upon Jack, fishing, on his pond. The phone begins to ring as he reels in and the camera approaches Jack.
This is the lead to a scene transition. Jack answers, "what!?" we jump to our transition character, let's say it's Carter at SGC asking how retirement is. We jump back to a medium shot of Jack, "I put fish in my pond, but you wouldn't know it." then an over the shoulder shot of him looking out over the pond and a fish jumps out of the water taunting him. Jack mutters in annoyance. Jack inquires "And how's (plot detail, etc etc)". A conversation continues, Jack concludes with, "Well, don't call me if the world needs saving again, I'm retired, let the new guys deal with it".
We now leave the scene with Jack, back to the SGC where the episode continues.
