I think i just got stranded with no spacecraft on my base

I finally built my first and very goofy looking corvette. I went to find more freighter scraps, but the map instead gave me an abandoned ship. I claimed it and I went back to the space station to call it since it appearantly fixes the core parts of the ship, according to nms people on youtube. It didn't work so I tried the other method, where you call it to another system. I teleported back to my base but none of my ships were there. I have a landing bay, but it needs a map chart (planetary chart?) for some reason so now i am spacecraft-less:(
