Dryer or Washing Machine Not seeming to truly clean clothes- leave hair and lint

I’ve tried doing extra rinses, less deterrent (front loading washing machine from ten plus years ago that my landlord just replaced the inside of the door of bc it got so moldy. I can’t figure out which is the problem - wash or dryer. I have rented here for 6 years and the dryer vent has never been cleaned. Should I do that? I’m not handy at all but can’t afford to pay for a service to do it. Is there an easy way? My landlord won’t pay for it either. She ignores my requests about it.
