What to do when you’re stuck between two paths?

Advice

I’m a final year pharmacology student at uni, and lately have had a serious problem being stuck between two very different paths after graduating next year.

One part of me has been drawn to nursing badly. It would be a commitment that would change my life drastically, I’d have another few years studying again, meet new people, learn a lot from the experience, etc. But even with the most advantages, it’s also got drawbacks such as being the more inconvenient of the two options, with a somewhat bad rep, and arguably a step back to some people.

I’m also drawn to doing a masters in cancer biology instead, and maybe doing medical writing as a job, another non lab role, or even a lab role if I enjoy it. It would take less time for me, maybe pay more in long term, etc. But job security feels less certain in this option, etc.

Has anyone been stuck between two different career paths? And how did you finally decide where to go?
