My struggle with addiction & something I’m building that might help others too
I’ve been struggling with porn addiction for years. I would quit, last a few days or weeks, then relapse again. I felt shame, isolation, lack of control.
What helped me wasn’t just “willpower”, but learning, collecting tools, trying different approaches: blockers, journaling prompts, meditation, understanding dopamine, accountability groups, reframing thoughts, and working on root causes.
At some point I noticed that recovery is full of scattered resources — YouTube videos here, exercises there, subreddits, books, science papers — but no clear roadmap depending on your stage:
Day 1 panic ≠ Month 3 urges ≠ Relapse recovery ≠ Long-term maintenance
So I started putting everything together in one place, and I’m slowly turning it into a community-driven library of addiction recovery resources (not only porn — also alcohol, nicotine, social media, gaming, eating, etc.).
My long-term goal is to let someone say “I’m on week 2, triggers X and Y” and generate a personalized step-by-step recovery path based on real tools that helped real people.
For now, I’m starting small — with a collaborative Google Sheet.
If you’re open to it, I’d love feedback, ideas, or resources that helped you.
If anyone wants access to the resource sheet I'm building, just reply "me" and I'll share it.
Recovery is hard alone. We’re stronger when we build together.
If you’ve made progress, even a little, what helped you the most?
