Road travel from Kandy to Ella?

Hello everyone

We will be visiting Sri Lanka soon and were planning on being in Kandy for 1 night on the 22nd of December and would have gotten the train to Ella on the 23rd, however I have heard that it is very likely that this will not be possible due to the flooding.

Is there a way to get to Ella via road instead, and if so how is the best way to book transport?
