Hello, i just got into tsukihime and i have sone questions

Firstly i started with the 2000s version and when i started liking the story i bought the remake version and im currently playing the remake version first. Is this a mistake? And my other problem which im scared more about is i heard you have to do the routes in order? So will i miss stuff if i do my first play through with my own choices?
