Critique My Writing [Grimdark, ~2100 words]

I have been working on a medieval military Grimdark style of fantasy. The Opening chapter follows a group of lowborn soldiers as they trudge across a frozen land. It's mostly inner monologue and characters sitting around a fire talking, or rather complaining about war, and how they'd rather do anything else. The story contains a mix of humorous and tragic characters. Any feedback you have for me would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time attempting to write. Hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
