Is it common to be scared of other people having been raised by a narc parent?

I was raised by a narc father, I suspect he is a malignant narc. He was a very scary person. Growing up, I realize I am very scared of people around me. Even asking for leave from work for medical leave frightens me. I am so worried that my boss will lash out on me.
