Struggling with dating as a man because I am not considered to be "desirable" for dating.
I am using a throwaway account for this, also crossposting and I just wanted to make this one post. I am 30 years old and I have gotten into dating just recently and I have never dated anyone in my entire life nor have I ever had a relationship. I decided to not date in my 30s for the following reasons
- Focused on my education. Got my bachelors and masters degree in a STEM field and also got some certifications which I had to study for.
- Focused on my career, I've been working at my current company for 5 years and when I was 28, I finally hit the 6 figure salary and now I am climbing up the corporate latter. I am deciding if I want to move to another country for another job as I've been presented the opportunities in the past but I am very happy.
- I also focused on myself and got a lot of therapy and now I am more active and putting my self out there as much as I can and even have travelled to 10 countries in the past 3 years solo. In addition, I decided to move out of my parents house and rent out a condo where I focused on setting up a new home for myself.
I am very happy with my life and now I am trying to find a partner and ready to date however I am finding no luck. I don't use dating apps, I tend to go out and meet people in social settings such as book clubs, hiking, and even travelling however I've had only rejections. I spoke to a lot of my women friends who are in relationships and they said I am not considered to be desirable candidate and that I don't really stand out among the crowd of other men. They told that they can choose you but there are better options for them available and also my lack of dating experience will be a deal breaker and will turn them off. I am not sure what to do in this case? I didn't think dating would this hard, I am still glad I held it off until now but it has been a uphill battle for me and I am not sure what to do.
