How to delete unwanted scenes from your reality (the editor theory)

If the 3D world shows you a scene you don't like, it’s vital that you don't accept it as the final truth. We often see a "blooper" in our day and assume the entire movie is ruined.

It feels scary because the physical event looks so real and solid in the moment. But reacting to it as a permanent fact is a misunderstanding of how production works.

We’re just watching the raw "dailies" of life, which always include bad takes and mistakes.

The director never panics about a bad take because they know the power lies in the editing room.

You’re the director of your reality, and you have full executive power to cut any scene that doesn't fit your vision. The raw footage includes everything, but the final timeline only includes what you select.

You don't have to keep the scene where the text didn't come or the money looked low. You can leave that footage on the cutting room floor where it belongs.

Try this shift: If a scene plays out that you don't like, yell "Cut" in your mind.
