Why Bengali Brahmans treated as non Brahmins in Hindi speaking places?

Question - General

I come from a Bengali Brahmin Family, and in my family eating meat is linked with the goddess we worship. I grew up in Central India, and there I faced racism and stereotypes that you are not a Brahmin, you eat meat and Fish, you are Bengali, Bengalis are not Brahmin (Meanwhile, Bengali is a language like Gujrati, Marathi, etc.). Is it somewhere written that eating meat is wrong and those who eat can't be Brahmin? What I found from ChatGPT and confirmed it with my parents that we worship Shakti/Shakta and in it eating fish or meat is not considered as sin.

I always felt discriminated, as one of my roommate is from South India, he is Brahmin, and he stereotypes me a lot with it.
