American Wife/Indian husband. First trip to India to meet his family.

My husband and I are planning to go to India for his brother’s wedding. I have never met my in-laws in person. I am an American woman and my husband is from Hyderabad in South India. We are both nondenominational Christian. I am 13 years older than my husband and divorced. At first his family was against our marriage but no it is considered love to arranged marriage and they are welcoming me. I’m not sure they are aware how much older I am or that I’m divorced prior to our marriage.

I’ve never met anyone, other than a couple video calls with his family and a bit of picture sharing with his mom on WhatsApp. I’ve also never traveled outside of the US except to Mexico and Bahamas.

I’m so nervous to go, especially now that I’ve been all over the internet and the internet has fed me information about honor killings and news articles about India not being safe for American women. There’s so many things running through my mind. Does anyone have any advice for me?
