My mom has come crawling back now that she has cancer

Mom and I have a typical relationship. She was very manipulative and narcissistic when I was growing up. She often saw me as competition and would make degrading comments about my body, intellect, etc.

Around 5 years ago I went no contact after she called my bank pretending to be me so she could get my financial statements. After about 4 years I went low contact after confronting her about my crappy childhood. In usual fashion she blamed me for it. Our communication has been very minimal. It’s usually her texting me that she’s on vacation with her rich boyfriend, showing off her new lifestyle, etc.

About a month ago she found out she has cancer and has been messaging me nonstop. She is begging me to come visit and that she wants to see me. She’s sending me over all her medical reports so that I can look into it for her and all this shit. Part of me thinks that she’s reflecting on her mistakes and realizing she could die soon without being close to her children.

The smarter part of me realizes it’s her way of luring me back into her narcissistic trap so I’ll take care of her.

I thought the news would affect me strongly but I quite honestly don’t care. Just like how my parents didn’t care to even take me to the hospital when I was 13 and suffered from a heart attack.
