Whoever says the game match makes via kit is either lying or the matchmaking is bugged

Went in on dam with green shield looting mk1 with level one kettle and level 1 ferro. Teammate had same kit except stitcher instead of kettle. Me and my friend get steamrolled by a duo team, both with purple shield, one with Venator 4 and the other a tempest 3 both trigger made spamming in control tower. Like genuinely how do u fight back, I thought the matchmaking was kit based? Guess not I suppose. Not much of a whiner when it comes to pvp, but that fight was pretty much unwinnable with our loadouts.
